Disability Inclusion Workshop

Course Overview

There have been significant changes within the disability sector with more focus on empowering people with disabilities and promoting inclusion, assisting them to live their own lives and to make or be involved in making decisions which directly impacts the quality of their life.

The online component will cover:

  • Introduction to Disability
  • Rights and Responsibilities
  • Self-Advocacy
  • Empowerment

The workshop will cover:

  • Identification of a Service Need
  • Group Activities – Disability and impairments
  • Individualised Plan and Goal Setting Strategies
  • Communication Skills and Strategies
  • Disability resources and services
Course Outcomes

On completion of this workshop you will have the skills and knowledge required to effectively interact with and respond to the needs of people with Disability.

On completion of this workshop you will be eligible to enrol in the Disability Inclusion Assessment which is aligned to the Unit of Competency BSBXDB301 Respond to the service needs of customers and clients with disability in partial completion in CSC40122 Certificate IV in Correctional Practice.

Entry requirementsOpen to all staff who interact with or assist a person with disability.
Delivery mode

This workshop will require completion of the following;

  • Prerequisite online component (2 hours)
  • Face-to-face / Virtual attendance (1 day)
