​Operational Management Training 

Perational Case Management

The Operational Management Training Unit provides a range of training courses which are open to staff in all areas of CSNSW. The focus of the unit is to provide staff with the underpinning knowledge and practical skills to work with offenders in reducing their offending behaviour.

The Operational Management Training Unit is also responsible for entry level training for both Custodial Case Management Officers & Offender Services & Programs Officers.

The Custodial Case Management primary training was developed to support staff appointed to a role within a Case Management Unit.  This program will enhance the skills, knowledge, and abilities of case managers to effectively fulfil all duties of the role.  Staff will receive a range of operationally specific training that will assist in their day to day duties. The Custodial Case Management training program has been developed to suit the specific operational duties of case managers and to provide staff with the opportunity to develop a thorough understanding of the Case Management Policy for Correctional Centres and the relevant Procedures. Upon completing the online assessment component of this primary training and attendance at all face-to-face learning, trainees should be issued with a CSC40121 Certificate IV in Correctional Practice.

The Offender Services & Programs primary training has been developed to provide Services & Programs Officers with the skills and knowledge to effectively deliver services and programs to offenders, providing information in relation to operational policies and procedures and best practice techniques. The program will assist learners develop skills to effectively build working relationships with offenders and will enable Services & Programs Officers to effectively deliver services and programs to inmates, provide high level skills in the delivery of quality outcomes, and implement offender Services & programs objectives. Upon completing the online assessment component of this primary training and attendance at all face-to-face learning, trainees should be issued with a CSC40121 Certificate IV in Correctional Practice.

The Operational Management Training Unit also offers a range of short courses for more experienced officers and staff of CSNSW who are working with offenders.

All training facilitators within the Operational Management Training Unit have industry training qualifications as well as extensive experience in Justice NSW. Our staff have a variety of backgrounds and areas of interest and work to ensure the currency and operational relevance of course content.

The Operational Management Training Unit is based at the Brush Farm Corrective Services Academy at Eastwood. Programs are delivered at the Academy and also off site at correctional centres and office locations across the state.
