Working with Culture and Diversity​ Workshop

Course Overview The Working with Culture and Diversity workshop is a blended learning program that aims to explore respectful strategies to work with and overcome barriers amongst offenders and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
Course Outcomes Upon completion of this workshop, learners should be able to:

  • Outline reflections on personal values and individual perspectives
  • Review legislation, CSNSW policies and procedures and Justice Values applicable to working with culture and diversity
  • Identify difficulties and challenges when interacting with diverse groups
  • Review and address needs of diverse offenders in a community and custodial setting
  • Describe methods and respectful strategies to work with and overcome barriers amongst offenders and colleagues from diverse backgrounds

On completion of this workshop you will be eligible to enrol in the Working with Culture and Diversity Assessment which is aligned to the Unit of Competency CSCORG028  Work effectively with culturally diverse offenders and colleagues in partial completion of CSC40122 Certificate IV in Correctional Practice.

Entry requirementsOpen to all Corrective Services NSW staff.
Delivery mode

This workshop will require completion of the following;

  • Prerequisite online component (1-2 hours)
  • Face to face / Virtual attendance (1 day)
