It is vital that staff have the skills, knowledge and awareness to effectively work with and assist offenders to change their drug and alcohol use.
The Working with AOD Offenders Workshop aims to provide participants with an overview of the AOD sector, related issues and basic skills to assess, interview and use Motivational Interviewing techniques to promote change.
In addition to developing an understanding of the issues associated with the abuse of alcohol and other drugs, this workshop will assist participants in working with offenders who abuse these substances, through; identifying their needs as well as developing and reviewing appropriate intervention strategies.
Participants who attend the workshop will have the opportunity to further enrol in the Working with AOD offenders Assessment Portal where they will be able to undertake an assessment portfolio. Upon successful completion of the assessment portfolio participants will receive a Statement of attainment in CSCINT003 – Assist offenders to change drug and alcohol use
as partial completion of the CSC40121 Certificate IV in Correctional Practice
Course duration:
2 day workshop. The course is virtual via MS Teams unless indicated near the scheduled course dates on this page.
