It is vital that staff have the skills, knowledge and awareness to effectively work with and assist offenders to change their drug and alcohol use. The Introduction to the Alcohol and Other Drug Sector Workshop aims to provide learners with an overview of the AOD sector, related issues and basic skills to assess, interview and use Motivational Interviewing techniques to promote change. In addition to developing an understanding of the issues associated with the abuse of alcohol and other drugs, this workshop will assist learners in working with offenders who abuse these substances, through; identifying their needs as well as developing and reviewing appropriate intervention strategies. |
