Maintaining Professional Boundaries

This course is also available to be facilitated off-site at your work location. To arrange this, please contact OCPTU@dcj.nsw.gov.au

Many CSNSW staff work directly with offenders in high intensity environments. These offenders often possess a high motivation to engage in manipulation and it is essential that staff possess awareness and an ability to establish and maintain strong professional boundaries.

This one day workshop has been developed following the 2016 research paper of Neto & Fayn which identifies key factors and strategies for the prevention of serious boundary violation within our environment.

Topics covered include; Defining Personal and Professional Boundary Styles, The Continuum of Professionalism (including under and over involvement), Risk and Protective Factors as well as Strategies for Maintaining Strong Professional Boundaries and Self-Care.

The workshop has been developed to be applicable to all staff within CSNSW, however will be particularly relevant to those working directly with offenders, or managing staff who do so.
